the "everything" stick

Infused with honey and rich in essential oils, you'll love this awesome new everything stick!

I use it for everything skin-wise.   Everything.
  • Lip balm
  • Moisturizer
  • Occasional irritations
  • Mild abrasions
  • Itchies
  • Dry patches
  • Cuticles
  • Rough skin (like on elbows, etc.)
  • On-the-go moisturizer
  • I ran out of my home-made eye cream, so until I make another batch, I'm using my everything stick!

In fact, I like to have two on hand -- one for my body (abrasions, etc.) and one for my face and lips, just to keep things clean.  I mark them ("B" and "F") with a Sharpie.

The FDA will get all up in arms if I use words that will actually help you see the value of and how versatile this Stick is, but take it from me, if you have skin, you need this.

To keep or not to keep ...
Because this recipe will make about 12
EVERYTHING STICKS,
you can make these and give some away and be THAT cool guy/girl who actually makes cool stuff AND GIVES IT AWAY.

Or horde them in your fridge.

Totally up to you.

And you don't have to tell people how quick and easy these are to make!

Bonus:  If you choose to give them away you will receive a valuable life lesson in overcoming that fear you developed in middle school of being called names.  Because you will be called by at least one friend something like "a "hippie voo-doo oil girl/guy" or some such.

You're welcome.  Another phobia conquered.

Keep one close by.  Always.

But ALWAYS stash one (at least - see note above) in your purse/backpack/pocket.  Always.

Why?

Because you have skin and are surrounded by people with skin.  And people with skin -- big people and little ones -- have stuff that happens to their skin.  And you want to help.

Again, like my other recipes, this is totally customizable.  Add different oils in different amounts if you wish.  To really make this an EVERYTHING Stick, I recommend our top "skin" oils -- Frankincense, Lavender and Melaleuca, but it's up to you.  Other nice additions are Sandalwood, Geranium and Helichrysum.

the everything stick

  • ½ oz (14 gm) beeswax
  • ½ oz (14 gm) cocoa butter
  • 1 oz (30 ml) (vanilla-infused if you wish) jojoba oil
  • 5 ml Honey
  • 20 drops Frankincense
  • 20 drops Lavender
  • 20 drops Melaleuca
  • 8 drops Geranium
  • 8 drops Sandalwood

directions:

One to three weeks ahead of time: To make vanilla infused jojoba oil:  simply slice open a vanilla bean and drop into a bottle of jojoba oil.  Do this up to three weeks in advance to infuse the oil with a rich vanilla aroma.  This is optional.  Just plain-old jojoba is fine!

Equipment:  You'll need either little tins or one of these lip balm tube trays.  This one comes with 50 empty tubes.  A pipette to fill the tubes is handy but not absolutely necessary.

  • Open your lip balm tubes and load them into the tray.
  • Measure all your ingredients. A kitchen scale works best for this. Be sure to tare your scale so you’re not measuring the weight of the bowl as well.
  • Put your Pyrex glass measuring cup (two cup or one quart size) in a cooking pot that is filled ¼ with simmering water. Place the handle on the OUTSIDE of the pot. This creates a handy double boiler.
  • Melt your beeswax in the Pyrex.
  • Add the cocoa butter. Stir until melted.
  • Add the jojoba and stir until melted.
  • Add the honey and stir.
  • Remove the Pyrex from heat, let cool for three minutes then add your essential oils. Stir the oils in gently with a Popsicle stick for easy clean up (although a spoon is fine)!
  • Pour the liquid into the lip balm tubes very carefully. I use a plastic pipette for this part. That way I’m not trying to pour from a large container into something with such a small opening.
  • As soon as your everything sticks are solid (which should just take a few minutes), remove the tubes from the tray and gently place the caps on the tubes so the essential oil does not evaporate.
  • Let your sticks cool and solidify for several hours.
  • Makes about 12 tubes.

quick tips on making your own capsules

I recently got an email from a one of my oil peeps asking me this, "I make a real mess when I make up capsules.  Any tips?"

Here's my response:

As I've used the oils I've learned to appreciate the ease and quick effect of (except with the really  HOT oils --oregano, cassia, clove etc.) simply putting two drops under my tongue, then holding it a few seconds then taking a sip of water (sometimes I gargle with it) and swallowing.  I do this with Frankincense, Protective Blend (when needed), Cellular Complex Blend (rather "warm" but I can do it), Digestive Blend etc.

I actually take Cellular Complex Blend every morning and Frankincense every evening in this manner.

Two drops is all -- usually right out of the bottle since I can feel the drops hitting, but sometimes I'll use an eye dropper.

When I make capsules I always use an eye dropper.

I add my oils, then almost always (especially with "hot" oils) add a drop or two of Digestive Blend oil to capsules and then always fill the rest of the way up with olive oil. With heavy-hitting oils, follow up with lots of water and a bite to eat.  A handful or raisins or dollop of peanut butter is great to push the capsule all the way down!

When I make my own capsules I limit the number of drops to about 2 - 5 total of essential oils at one time.  Over a 24-hour period, it's a good idea to top out at no more than 24 drops.

And don't forget, empty Veggie Caps are cheap!  You can buy 160 of them for $4 through your wholesale customer account with my preferred essential oils company.

Some people worry about cross-contamination with using the same eye dropper between oils when making capsules, but I don't much.  I squeeze and squeeze (usually onto my wrist) and make sure as much residue as possible is out of the eye dropper before moving on to the next oil, but I don't worry much about it.  You could always pull up some clean water into the eye dropper between oils and either squirt it into your mouth if it's not hot or just into the sink or on your wrist even - so as to not waste even a tiny bit.

I keep a screw-on eye dropper in Myrrh.  It is so thick it plugs up my bottle and doesn't clean out of eye droppers well.

I've also moved to buying capsules when possible -- this is more expensive than making your own though.  I love these softgels: Seasonal Blend, Protective Blend, Digestive Blend and Detoxification Blend capsules.  Cleansing Formula softgels, although we think of it as a cleaning oil for the gut, is actually a great emergency oil blend to have on hand for emergencies as it has the big gun oils in it.  So I always keep it on hand!!

Here's a nice little tool -- a little wooden capsule holder -- https://www.aromatools.com/Wooden_Capsule_Holder_p/9574.htm.  I've never done it but I've heard if you make capsules up in advance and be sure to add Olive Oil to them -- they will not dissolve if you put them in the refrigerator.  I've never tried it though.  If you do, let me know!!

Hope this helps!
